Coffee Calamities and Luis Guzmán

Ok – So I have decided to take a day and break from my plan and posting about goals for something a little lighter.
Yesterday my girlfriend made coffee in the morning. It was a nice change of pace as I am normally up and making the coffee for her. However, the coffee came out of the pot looking discolored and tasting horrible (she informed me it was not very good before I tried). We had first noticed the pot acting strangely when she went to get a second cup of coffee on Tuesday. Her first cup was good but when she returned the coffee looked more like sewer water and tasted to match. We thought that maybe her son had poured some extra water into the reservoir while the pot was on to help make the coffee (he loves to help with anything in the kitchen) and wrote the bad coffee off.
The coffee came out yesterday looking identical to the coffee from the dreaded second cup of the previous day. She then cleaned the coffee pot and brewed it through again with just water. She also cleaned all the nooks and crannies with a q-tip to make sure everything was clean. Then another pot of coffee was brewed with the same result (swamp water this time).
In our house coffee is a necessity. We have coffee on most of the day and will normally drink one to two pots over the course of the day; so it looks like we will need to invest in a new coffee pot. I have managed to bridge the gap today by investing way too much in a box o’ joe from Dunkin Donuts and will hopefully have time this evening to get out and get a coffee pot. Another unexpected expense but so far we are under budget this month for many items so it may all work out.
In other random news: while I was out and about last night I stopped at a little store to pick up something to drink. When I went up to the checkout I saw Luis Guzmán picking up a few household items. He then got in line for checkout right behind me. I didn’t say anything, just got my seltzer water and left. Kind of random but kind of cool at the same time I think.
