CashCrate As A Source Of Extra Income

Posted on: September 9, 2008 by Matt

Well I wasn’t going to mention it but I just stumbled upon CashCrate.com and have started to use it to get a few extra dollars a month. So here is a little information on the site and a bit about how it works.

What is it?
CashCrate is a “get paid to” site that allows people to sign up and complete free offers for varying amounts of money depending on the offer. I was always skeptical about these sites and did a fair amount of research before giving it a shot. I signed up in the last week of August of 2008 and got enough done in free offers to make about $41.00. I should be getting my check sometime in the middle of this month. I did research in several locations and have seen other people’s proof of payment and will post a picture of mine when I get it :)

How it works:
Once you create a CashCrate user account you can begin immediately filling out the free offers, signing up for trials, and completing daily surveys. Most offers do not require a credit card and can be completed in just a few minutes. The main thing you will want to pay attention to is the details of the offer prior to submitting it for approval. There are normally some instructions to help you figure out what needs to be done. You can also complete up to two daily surveys for $0.80 each if you qualify. I like to try one in the morning just before work and sometimes the other around lunch time.

Useful tidbits of information:

A few things to keep in mind while using CashCrate:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies before and after visiting CashCrate.com
  • The minimum payment used to be $10 but has been upped to $20. Users are petitioning to bring it back down though.
  • Set up a second email address with a free provider like hotmail, yahoo or gmail. Use this email address to fill out any offers. The only time you will want to check it is to confirm items needed for some offers and to clean it out.
  • Use an email address that you normally use for the actual CashCrate signup.

A couple things that I was worried about:
Pretty much all the offers on CashCrate require you to enter a valid physical address and phone number as well as your email to complete the offer. This got me worried about a few things such as

  • An increase in junk mail: Well, I suppose I could always recycle it or throw it away.
  • My credit card being charged for free offers that require a credit card: I have tried a couple offers that require a credit card to sign up and then give you 30 days free. The two that I have set up I was able to call and cancel without issue a few days later. After making sure that my credit went through.

So far not too bad and I am really hoping to get a photo up soon of my first CashCrate check.
